Thanks for the tip - that's true - and I do that sometimes. But, often, I'm working on the train or in another office and carrying around an extra monitor doesn't work too well :-) I also find that I can't get comfortable if I am trying to use a laptop monitor and a second screen at the same time - for some reason it just doesn't work for me ergonomically.

This may be obvious but you could get a second monitor and have Windows running full screen on the external screen and OSX on your laptop screen. Parallels will adjust the resolution of the Windows window to suit the external monitor when you do the 'alt-enter' rotate screen thing.
